Orientation to the DVTOC Discord Server

Want to keep up with DVTOC and communicate with our members?  Have questions to ask other members?

DVTOC has moved from Slack to Discord.  And while there are some similarities, Discord is not Slack and Slack is not Discord. This orientation session will cover how to use Discord and the layout of our new Discord server. There will be opportunities to ask questions.

We’ll also go over:

• How to join our server once you have an account
• Getting your access authorized
• How to choose what ribbons you want on your name badge (these control which sections of the server to which you have access)
• Accessing Discord on from Desktop App, Browser, or Smart Phone
• Changing your name on our server only (DVTOC prefers you use your real name on our server, as that is how our members know you)
• How to control notifications
• Notifying others
• Reducing/silencing your own notifications
• Categories
• Channels
• Text vs Voice/Video

To prepare for the session it would help if you signed up for a Discord account.  Discord uses a single login for all of the various Discord servers you join, including DVTOC.  If you do not already have a discord account, please create one at https://discord.com/register.  Please do not create a second account if you already have one.

This event is open to members only, as membership is required to join the Discord server.
